Final Fantasy 14 Walkthrough
In this Final Fantasy 14 Walkthrough, I will be taking you through the beginning of the game and showing you how to get started in the world of Eorzea.
There are a few areas I will be covering: getting quests, getting out of town, starting quests, and changing classes.
Final Fantasy 14 Walkthrough – Getting Quests
As soon as you start the game, you will be forced to go through about an hour-long start quest which will acclimate you to the game as well as set up the initial storyline.
Once this has ended, you will find yourself in the Adventurer’s Guild for whatever city you started in. In this guild you will find a person behind a desk highlighted with blue colors. One person at the desk issues regional Leves (which are for Discipline of War, Magic, and Land classes), and the other person issues local Leves (which are for crafters of all types).

Players can do 8 quests of each type (Regional and Local) each Leve reset (which happens every 36 real-life hours). You can pick up these quests from these two NPCs. Now, once you have your quests, the next step is getting out of town and out into the world.
Getting out of Town in Final Fantasy 14
While exiting town might seem like something every obvious, this is not the case in Final Fantasy 14. The maps which you are given are very ornate and decorative but not very practical. Below, I will show you how to get out of town in each city.
In Limsa Lominsa you will see a staircase at the west exit to the Adventurer’s hall. Go down this spiral staircase to the lower level, and once you are on the lower level you can head straight east to exit town.
In Ul’dah, the exit is out of the north of the city, but the main gate to exit the northern part of the city is blocked off. To the west, there will be a small opening in the wall which will lead down a dark hallway. Go down that hall, then head east all the way along that long hallway and you will find yourself outside of town.
In Gridania, getting out of town here is quite easy – just head south. There are several exits out of Gridania and all of them are in the South.
FF14 Walkthrough – Starting and Completing Quests
Now that we are finally out of town, we can get started on the basic part of this Final Fantasy 14 Walkthrough – how to start and complete quests.
What you will want to do is check the map for the camp that matches the leves you picked up. Once you head to that camp, stand next to the giant crystal, called the Aetheryte, in the center of camp. Bring up the menu by pressing the [Home] key, and then select Aetheryte. The option to “Initiate Levequest” will appear, which you can then select to start your quests.
Note: Initiating “Guardian’s Favor” makes quests pay out bonus experience points. This usually costs 10 points to activate, and your points regenerate to a max of 200 over time.
Once you start the quest, your mini-map (at the top right by default) will have your quest targets marked on it. Once you see your enemies, you can press the “F” key to go into fighting mode and attack the enemies.
Once everything is beat, you will complete the quest and a small Aetherial stream will appear. You can interact with this (bring up the menu again) in order to complete the quest.
Now for the final part of this FF14 walkthrough – how to change classes!
Final Fantasy 14 Walkthrough – Changing Classes
In FF14, you can change classes simply by changing equipped weapons. There are weapons for every single starting craft available at vendors for 1,000 gil or less in every major city. Just check the map for marked areas and talk to all the NPCs behind counters in order to see where your items are for sale.
You will want to level up a variety of classes so you can equip all their abilities and create a powerful class with multiple traits and moves from different classes.
Once you buy the weapon, open up your main menu and select equipment/gear. Select your weapon slot, and then select the new weapon you just purchased in your inventory. Once you equip it, if the weapon is a different class to what you started with, you will change classes. Once you do this, you have FF14 down and have mastered this walkthrough.
Final Fantasy 14 Walkthrough Conclusion
You now know how to pick up quests, how to get out of town, how to start quests, complete them, and change classes. You now know everything you need to know in order to start leveling up with a variety of classes in Final Fantasy 14. Enjoy and good luck!
